Who Are We?

All dietitians are state-registered practitioners and hold either a BSc in Nutrition & Dietetics or a Post-graduate Diploma in Dietetics.

All dietitians undertake continuing professional development and appropriate specialist post-registration training.

We are a progressive and forward-thinking team working together to provide high quality and efficient services.

What Do We Do?

Our practices are based on interpreting nutritional, medical and social sciences to develop appropriate eating patterns and communicating these effectively to others.

We work with people who need dietary change to prevent or manage disease and also with individuals, groups and communities to raise awareness of the links between nutrition and health, and facilitate positive changes in food choices.

We Have Expertise In:-

Appropriate nutrition for health from preconception through to old age

Therapeutic diets for disease prevention and management

For example -

  • diabetes
  • coronary heart disease
  • renal disease
  • malnutrition and nutrition support (including patients needing tube feeding at home)
  • allergies and intolerance's
  • modified texture diets
  • bowel disorders
  • cancer care
  • paediatrics (including failure to thrive, weight management)
  • eating disorders

Individual dietary advice and counselling

  • assessment of nutritional status and requirements
  • assessment of dietary intake and factors affecting it
  • practical advice on modifications needed to meet clinical need and tailored to individual circumstances
  • dietary counselling to facilitate change

Diet Sheets / Teaching Aids

  • advising on appropriate materials for local needs
  • developing / providing resources for use in different situations
  • health promotion leaflets about food
  • first line advice for practice teams to use

Nutrition & Dietetic Services

Working with people with special needs

e.g. learning disabilities, mental health problems, children, ethnic groups, older people, people on low incomes.

Working in partnership with other disciplines and organisations

Provision of training/updates on diet/nutrition matters

  • these are tailored to the needs of participants

Development of nutrition related policies and protocols to facilitate a consistent approach

  • e.g. infant feeding advice guidelines
  • prescribable supplement protocol

Community nutrition education and policy

For example -

  • How to set up and evaluate?
  • cook and eat groups
  • nutrition games and group activities
  • community development approaches
  • working with food providers, schools, workplaces, day & residential care and those who influence food choices and availability
