Indicative Food Rules for Different Religions
It is important to understand the food rules surrounding different religions as this can seriously affect the nutritional intake of a patient if the wrong food is provided. The current hospital menus provide vegetarian and Halal choices at both lunch and supper and also always gives a choice of meat and fish types to allow appropriate choices to be made. Composite dishes include detail of the meat/fish content to also help with selection.
Any patient who finds they cannot meet their requirements should ask the nursing staff to contact the catering department so that provison can be made.
