Altered consistency diets for patients with difficulty chewing or swallowing

Referral Criteria

Any adult patient

  • with difficulties in eating or swallowing who has been assessed by a speech and language therapist and diagnosed with dysphagia and the need for a modified consistency diet and or thickened fluids e.g. MS, CVA, MND
  • OR who has a physical problem with their swallow or chewing, e.g. oesophageal stricture, broken jaw that requires a liquidated diet/nutritional supplementation
