Referral criteria

Any adult patient who is failing to meet their nutritional needs and is classed as malnourished i.e. MUST score of 2 or more or 1-% weight loss in last 3-6 months or is already at risk of malnutrition and has been diagnosed with a condition that may further affect food intakes, e.g. Cancer, depression, Parkinsons and Arthritis

 

(MUST = Malnutrition Screening Tool)

Additional information

Dietetic intervention focuses on calculation of nutritional requirements, estimation of current nutritional intakes and assesses how to meet needs via a food first approach.
