Referral Criteria

The occupational therapy rheumatology team specialises in assessing and treating conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), osteoarthritis (OA), psoriatic and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). The team works closely with the rheumatology consultants and a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the patient receive an holistic management approach. Treatments may involve group and individuals education, functional assessment, provision of joint protection equipment, splinting (thermoplastic and premades), home visit to faciliate safe and timely discharge.

Referral Pathway

Informal referral via medical and nursing staff on a day to day basis. Referrals also from the weekly MDT meeting.

Additional Information

Patients are followed up in out patients if appropriate.
