  Visits to Centres of Excellence
Clinical Secondment
Job Exchange
Minimum 1 per year Monitor in-service training and development programmes and input as appropriate Minimum 1 session per year
  Provide evidence of Continuing Professional Development through a Personal Portfolio Review 6 monthly (minimum)

Senior I External Courses:-
  • Clinical
Minimum 1 per year Provide a high standard of professional supervision and development opportunities for Senior II staff. Supervision Standard
  MSc/Research
Managing Health Services Certificate
NVQ Level 4 Management
Optional Senior II/Basic staff appraisal. IPR Policy
  Visits to Centres of Excellence. Focus on Specialist Area e.g. Stroke Unit Observed assessment of Senior II - fixed and rotational. Fixed - minimum of 2 per year - Rotational minimum of 2 per rotation.
  Undertake observed assessment by Head III Minimum 2 per year Observed assessment of Basic Grade Staff. Minimum of 2 per rotation
  In House Management Development Programmes:-
  • Managing Safety
  • IPR
All to complete
Monitor clinical development/appraisal of students.  
  Provide evidence of continuing professional development through a Personal Portfolio Review with supervisor 6 monthly (minimum) Ensure in-service training programme is delivered effectively and input as appropriate. Minimum 1 session per year

Senior II Undertake observed assessment by Senior I/Head III Minimum 2 per year Provide a high standard of professional & clinical supervision to basic grade staff and/or O.T. assistants. Supervision Standard
  External Courses Minimum 1 per year    
  In house management development programmes:-
  • IPR (if appropriate)
  • Presentation skills.
All to complete Basic Grade/Occupational Therapy Assistant staff appraisal (if feasible). IPR Policy
  Undertake core rotations:-
  • select 2 out of 3 plus one compulsory in initial 18 months
All to complete Observed assessment of basic grade staff (if appropriate). Minimum 2 per rotation
  Clinical Teaching Course All to complete Assist in student education and development  
  Watch assessment of Senior I 1 per rotation Input to in-service training programme 1 session per year minimum
  Participate in In-Service training Programme. As available 90% attendance.    
  Directed Study Reading List    
  Present development project. 1 per rotation

Assistants Therapy Assistants Training Package - in house competencies      
Students Department Induction Within 2 weeks of commencement    
  Watch assessment by Senior I/II 1 per placement    
  Undertake observed assessment by Senior I/II Minimum 1 per placement    
  Participate in In-service training programme As available    
  Informal teaching Maximum 30 minutes per day    
In-Service Training (IST) Organised by IST Committee of staff representatives Rotate membership at least 6 monthly    
  Obligatory attendance except in extenuating circumstances
