What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is the treatment of muscle, soft tissue and joint conditions through advice and exercise.

Our team specialises in rheumatological conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis and lupus.

What will happen when i come to physiotherapy?

Your first session will last approximately 40 minutes. During the assessment you will be asked a lot of questions relating to how your conditions is affecting you and your work and family life.

What type if exercise will i have to do?

Physiotherapy include stretching, strengthening and stabilising exercises. These exercises will always be done within your condition worse.
You may also be offered the opportunity to do water based exercise in the hydrotherapy pool.

Why is it important to exercise?

People with a rheumatological condition need to make sure they exercise regularly to:
  • Prevent stiffness from tight joints or soft tissues.
  • Maintain.improve muscle strength to help protect joints.
  • Maintain/improve functional ability.
  • Maintain.improve general health and fitness.
