Psychology is an essential part of modern health care. We offer a comprehensive service to people with physical health problems such as cancer, diabetes, chronic pain and children with developmental problems. This includes individual psychological assessment and therapy, group work as well as working with other health and social care staff in teams to provide the best possible care. We also provide teaching in the psychology of physical health problems and supervision to staff to help them offer better psychological support.

A diagnosis of cancer and the consequenses of treatment can lead to significant psychological distress for both the patients themselves and those around them. Psychology services are offered to people who have been diagnosed with cancer, their partners, carers and relatives who are experiencing distress related to the illness. The psychologist also works closely with members of the Oncology multi-disciplinary team to offer holistic patient care.
