- All wheelchairs provided from Bradford Wheelchair Services will be issued with a cushion.
- A cushion will be provided for comfort, postural support and pressure relieving requirements, for wheelchair use only.
- Assessments for pressure relieving cushions will be carried out where appropriate by a wheelchair therapist.
- The pressure monitor may be used, in addition to clinical reasoning, to support the choice of cushion.
- A cushion may be issued for private wheelchairs but the following conditions must be met:
- The client must be eligible for issue of a wheelchair from Wheelchair Services.
- The private wheelchair must be deemed to be the most appropriate model for their needs.
- The cushion shall not be determined by the User, but will be identified, following assessment by a wheelchair therapist and/or rehabilitation engineer.
- Cushions cannot be provided for static seating, the client should contact his/her own district nurse for provision of a pressure relieving cusion in the static seat.
